Ozyasar Steel Wire’s new solar power plant to meet 69% of electricity consumption

Turkish steel galvanized wire producer Ozyasar Steel Wire plans to build a solar power plant in Dogansehir, Malatya to cover around 69% of its electricity consumption, the company said in a Dec. 17 regulatory filing.

It said the plant would produce 12.5 million Kw/year of electricity and Ozyasar had already paid Lira 7.5 million ($215,000) to purchase land for the project, it said.

Ozyasar has a total capacity of 266,000 mt/year. Turkish mills have recently increased renewable energy investments to comply with the EU’s Green Deal.

Ozyasar, which started its wire mill in Albania in early 2021, said it had begun producing zinc aluminum-coated steel wires at the mill and made shipments to some EU countries.
